Leading engineering solutions provider, Ipsum, has expanded its no-dig offering into Scotland, bringing advanced, low-disruption services to new regions in the UK.
The strategic expansion comes as part of Ipsum’s commitment to delivering cleaner, more efficient infrastructure services and reflects the growing demand for smarter, more sustainable approaches to sewer rehabilitation and pollution prevention.
Scotland presents unique environmental challenges for the Water industry, alongside its ageing infrastructure the need for cost effective, no-dig solutions is accelerating. By reducing the need for excavation, Ipsum is working in a way that protects local ecosystems, minimises disruption to communities and delivers faster, more cost-effective repairs to infrastructure.
Mark Kaney, Managing Director for Water & Infrastructure at Ipsum, said: “Following the publication of The Cunliffe Review, it is obvious that the sector is in need of methods that meet sustainability requirements, but also put customers at the very centre. No-dig provides the reassurance of extended asset life and a highly controlled programme of works, as well as an added bonus of reduced disruption to local communities. From a sustainability perspective, it also reduced the programme emissions compared to those seen with traditional excavations.
Mark McCallum, Operations Director (Scotland) at Ipsum, said: “Ageing infrastructure is a big issue faced by the UK, but Scotland presents unique complexities, such as a mix of remote rural networks, densely built-up urban areas and stricter environmental and planning constraints. No-dig methods are a real game changer when it comes to programme predictability, cost-efficiency and community impact.
Ipsum has a well-established and experienced Trenchless Technologies team working with Water Companies across England. At this year’s UKSTT Awards, Ipsum’s work on the Dale Road Spills Scheme was named in the top 3 Renovation – Small Projects category, a project that provided a long term solution and addressed a significant pollution risk.
The business has utilised significant CAPEX investment for its Trenchless Technologies offering, which has been used to purchase top of the line equipment and upskill its current engineering workforce.
