Ipsum and PYDRO GmbH create strategic partnership to address flow monitoring and leak detection

With an increasing demand for flow monitoring and leak detection, technical engineering provider Ipsum and award-winning clean tech start up PYDRO GmbH, have joined forces to form a strategic technology partnership.

The partnership, which launched at biennial trenchless technology exhibition, No-Dig Live 2026, will play a critical role in improving water efficiency, protecting the environment and making better use of our most precious resource – water. It marks a strategic industry partnership that will combine continuous, self-powered network monitoring with critical targeted no-dig intervention.

With a fifth of treated water lost to leakage, addressing the problem is more important than ever. By implementing flow meters, water companies can better understand how their networks are performing, identify abnormal flows and potential leaks at an early stage. This information gives insights that allows for early investigation and repair before small losses escalate to major failures.

Key benefits of the partnership include:

  • It brings together the technology of PYDRO’s PT1 flowmeter and Ipsum’s practical no-dig engineering application to provide critical insights into the water network.
  • The insights gained will allow for proactive intervention, helping reduce leakage, mitigate network failures and target rehabilitation more effectively.
  • The partnership is not limited to flow monitoring. Bringing together PYDRO’s data platform and Ipsum’s no-dig experience and asset management capability increases opportunities for predictive maintenance, digitalisation and smarter network management.

The challenges facing the water industry require a different approach to innovation, one that combines technical expertise, collaboration and a clear focus on outcomes. Our partnership model enables us to identify, develop and deploy new solutions more quickly, ensuring the sector has access to the tools and technologies needed to meet the expectations of AMP8.

We remain committed to driving innovation that delivers tangible operational and environmental benefits, helping our customers address today’s challenges while preparing for the needs of the future.

Real-time data creates its greatest value when it leads to better and faster decisions in the field. By combining PYDRO’s continuous, self-powered network monitoring with Ipsum’s engineering, asset management and no-dig capabilities, we can help water companies move from simply identifying problems to acting on them more effectively.

This partnership gives us a strong route to support UK water companies in reducing leakage, improving network visibility and targeting intervention where it creates the greatest operational value. It is exactly the type of collaboration needed to turn network digitalisation into measurable outcomes during AMP8 and beyond.
