Flood prevention and risk analysis

Understanding the potential flood risk on their property is crucial for protecting their assets and operations, whether it’s a new development or an existing property. With climate change causing flooding to become a growing issue for UK businesses, it’s important to have a plan in place to mitigate the risk.

At Ipsum, we offer comprehensive risk analysis and network management solutions to help businesses prepare for the future. Our site evaluations take into account various factors, such as the environment, past flooding incidents, high-risk areas, and surrounding infrastructure developments. With our extensive network expertise, we can develop resilient programs tailored to the specific needs of each property, protecting their longevity at a reasonable cost.

Flooding can happen unexpectedly due to various reasons, such as clogged drains, broken pipes, or severe weather conditions. High pressure water jetting and vacuumation

Ipsum’s drainage and sewer network services are available nationwide, 24/7. We offer both planned maintenance programmes and emergency incident response to ensure your systems operate efficiently.

Our fleet of modern vehicles can handle pipe diameters from 50mm to 3,000mm, providing comprehensive inspection, pipeline cleansing, and tank emptying services. Our agile Van-Packs and CityFlex units are perfect for tight spaces, while our powerful Combination Tankers can handle larger projects. We process both wet and dry waste, ensuring all aspects of the job are taken care of.

In addition, our innovative DISAB Recycler Units allow us to recycle extracted pipeline fluids, reducing waste-to-landfill volumes and minimising site travel. This helps us to optimise productivity on site while enhancing our environmental approach.

Pipeline survey and inspection

As pipelines are vital components of critical infrastructure, addressing issues can be expensive and cause substantial service interruptions. At Ipsum, we provide a range of pipe evaluation, management, and maintenance services.

Our teams are equipped to conduct extensive surveys, which include topographical surveys, flow and pressure tests, pipe preparation, non-destructive testing, drilling and tapping, pipe coupon extraction, valve installation, CCTV, and soil and water quality sampling. Pipeline CIPP Lining (patch & full)

Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) Lining is an efficient, secure, and cost-effective method to enhance the lifespan of drain, sewer pipelines, and culverts up to 120 years. Ipsum employs the most advanced CIPP lining technologies for pipe repairs, catering to diameters from 100mm to 600mm.

CIPP Lining enables a cost-effective repair of localised damaged or deteriorating pipes without the need for extensive excavation, minimising repair costs, public inconvenience, and environmental impact. A flexible, resin-saturated fiberglass tube is inserted into the affected area, and then cured in place, creating a strong, long-lasting pipe within the existing one.

Turnkey design and build installation projects

Installing utilities can be a complex and challenging process, with various safety regulations and environmental considerations to keep in mind. Errors or complications can be costly and time-consuming.

Turnkey solutions can help ease the burden of utility installation and maintenance. Rather than coordinating with multiple vendors, a turnkey solution provider serves as a single point of contact and manages the entire process, reducing stress and saving time.

At Ipsum, we understand the importance of reliable utility services to businesses and homes. With decades of experience, we have developed turnkey solutions that are efficient, dependable, and cost-effective. Our team of subject matter experts can accurately analyse, coordinate, and provide the specialised equipment required to complete your infrastructure project on time and within budget.

Site survey and investigation

A thorough site study could prevent up to 80% of building issues caused by unanticipated ground conditions. Site studies involve gathering information, analyzing data, and identifying unforeseen threats beneath a site.

The primary goal of a site study is to provide guidelines for foundation and substructure design, as well as to identify potential pollution concerns to people, property, and the environment.

The design and scope of each site inquiry depend on the site’s specific conditions, including its past use, projected geology, and proposed development.

There are numerous procedures and strategies available for use. A typical site investigation study consists of four phases:

Phase 1

Desk study

Phase 2

An intrustive inquiry

Phase 3

Plan for remediation

Phase 4

Validation

Fire hydrant testing

In the event of a fire, having all tools available to the fire brigade, in proper working order, is crucial to support them in handling the emergency. That’s why we believe that annual maintenance and testing of fire hydrants is essential. By doing so, we can ensure that there are no mechanical problems, such as leaks and valves, that could impede the effectiveness of the fire hydrant during an emergency.

Our experienced team conduct the following:

  • Visual inspection of above-ground hydrant frame, cover, the surrounding surface and indicator plate
  • Visual inspection of the underground chamber, the hydrant, caps, and valves
  • Wet pressure test to ensure there are no signs of leakage
  • Static pressure test
  • Flow test
  • Identification of missing or damaged parts

Contamination waste removal and disposal

At Ipsum, we understand the serious implications of hazardous waste on the environment and human health. Legislation classifies solid waste as hazardous if it possesses qualities that can cause harm.

These can include being caustic, flammable, reactive, or hazardous, which makes it crucial that it’s handled with extreme caution. Hazardous waste can originate from both households and factories, and it includes items like batteries, aerosols, fluorescent tubes, paint, solvents, oils, and thinners.

We offer a secure, efficient, and simple hazardous waste collection process. We customise our services based on your specific needs, including the type of waste and the number of collections required.

Whether you need to dispose of aerosols, mixed waste electrical equipment (WEEE), old equipment, or oily rags, you can trust our efficient and competent service. Regardless of your hazardous waste requirements, you can count on Ipsum to provide the right solution for your business.

Rainwater harvesting

Rewilding and biodiversity initiatives play a crucial role in generating sustainable, efficient, and healthier urban and rural environments. Our goal is to optimise natural environments surrounding all of our contracts, working collaboratively towards environmental objectives and targets.

One way we achieve this is by conserving rainwater on-site. This enables us to utilise the harvested water for our contract operations, reducing the need for additional tanks to be transported to the site. By doing so, we can drive the use of chemical-free resources, ultimately making a positive impact on the national water footprint.

Additionally, rainwater harvesting reduces reliance on water usage during peak demand in the summer months, allowing treated water to be saved for more important and appropriate uses. At Ipsum, we are committed to making a positive difference to the environment and reducing our impact on natural resources.
