Ipsum Group expands high voltage and transformer expertise with acquisition of Rosh Engineering Ltd

Ipsum Group has expanded its specialist power engineering capability through the acquisition of Rosh Engineering Ltd, a UK-based expert in power transformer and high-voltage services.

The acquisition further strengthens Ipsum’s position in the UK power sector at a time of accelerating grid investment, growing electrification demand and the transition to low-carbon energy systems. By integrating Rosh’s deep transformer expertise with Ipsum’s established high voltage, grid connection, control and infrastructure capabilities, the combined business is well placed to support utilities, DNOs, IDNOs other utilities and private network operators with fully integrated, turnkey HV solutions.

Ipsum Group, Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Cowan, said: “I’m delighted to welcome the whole team at Rosh Engineering to Ipsum. Adding to our rapidly expanding business, they bring a depth of transformer and high voltage engineering expertise that is highly complementary alongside our existing capabilities. Their technical precision, strong safety culture and proven track record in complex operational environments align closely with our own standards. This acquisition further enhances our ability to provide our customers with specialist support across critical high voltage assets, reinforcing our commitment to strengthening the UK’s power infrastructure.”

Rosh Engineering Ltd, Managing Director, Ian Dormer, added: “For more than four decades, Rosh has been built on technical excellence and a commitment to delivering specialist transformer services to the highest standard. Joining Ipsum provides a strong platform for sustainable growth, broader project opportunities and continued investment in our people and facilities. We are excited about the opportunities this creates for our team and our customers.”

This acquisition forms part of Ipsum’s continued strategy of investing in specialist engineering capability to support the reliability, resilience and modernisation of the UK’s critical infrastructure.

Founded in 1981, Rosh Engineering has built a strong reputation for technical excellence across the full transformer lifecycle. They provide comprehensive services spanning installation and commissioning, condition monitoring, insulating oil management, gasket replacement and leak repair, cooling system works, refurbishment, life extension and decommissioning. Operating from its facility in Blaydon-on-Tyne, Rosh also delivers bespoke fabrication and workshop-based transformer services, supporting critical transmission and distribution infrastructure across the UK.

The business holds ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) certifications and has received multiple RoSPA President’s Awards in recognition of its strong safety culture. These standards closely align with Ipsum’s operational framework and commitment to delivering safe, high-quality engineering services.

Ipsum operates across the Power, Water, Infrastructure and Telecoms sectors, delivering engineering services that enhance asset performance and safeguard essential networks. The addition of Rosh Engineering adds further technical depth to Ipsum’s high voltage service offering, reinforcing its ability to manage complex HV assets from installation through to overhaul and life extension.
