Ipsum Group company RJ Power continues to strengthen its position as a trusted power engineering partner to several major UK airports, delivering resilient, safety-critical electrical infrastructure within some of the country’s most operationally demanding environments.
Following the successful conclusion of its previous contract in 2025, RJ Power was awarded a new maintenance contract at one major airport — a clear reflection of the client’s confidence in the company’s technical expertise, collaborative approach and consistent delivery.
Throughout 2025, RJ Power delivered full substation installations alongside a comprehensive maintenance programme. The team completed site-wide inspections, undertook transformer oil sampling and provided substation access training for airport technical staff. In addition, they supported cable testing requests and responded swiftly to operational callouts, reinforcing both day-to-day reliability and long-term asset performance.
At another major airport, RJ Power has delivered ongoing non-intrusive maintenance since asset handover 18 months ago. The award of the 2026 maintenance contract further strengthens its role at this critical terminal, with plans to progress intrusive maintenance works later in the year, subject to operational access. RJ Power also continues to support by maintaining multiple substations through a combination of intrusive and non-intrusive works. Recent projects have included the replacement of battery tripping units, protection relays and auxiliary components, alongside investigative works to resolve long-standing legacy faults.
At a key airport operations base, RJ Power manages a complex substation network within a highly constrained operational environment, responding rapidly whenever limited access windows allow intrusive works to be carried out. In the north of England, an airport head office in Manchester further strengthens the company’s growing portfolio, demonstrating its ability to deliver consistent, high-quality engineering services across the UK.
Beyond passenger terminals, RJ Power has secured the 2026 maintenance contract for a global cargo operator and plans to expand intrusive maintenance activities later in the year.
Looking ahead to 2026 and 2027, the business remains committed to strengthening long-term partnerships with its airport clients, delivering safe, reliable and future-ready power solutions that support operational continuity and sustainable growth.
Ipsum continues to lead the way in critical power engineering — combining technical excellence, operational agility and long-term partnership to power the UK’s most demanding environments with confidence.
